I dont know anything about brown snakes only what ive read and from forums ect but the one I had last night was just plain cranky he had a feed couldnt get out and had this silly woman looking at him (me). When we released him he just slithered away slowly and showed no signs of turning back to attack,.Im just thankfull that Ive learnt enough to know I dont really know anything about snakes but at least I knew it was a ven, that probably saved my life.

Think about the defensive measures available to a brown snake as opposed to a human. For the snake it really only comes down to bite or run away and so when the option of runaway seems not to be available the only defense the snake has is to bite, I would hardly call this an aggressive action consider it is likely the only viable defence the snake has. As for giving chase...the snake has to get itself out of the corner somehow doesnt it?

Although certain creatures can be aggressively defensive it depends on the defenses that are available to the creature that define it as such. A logically resourceful human has many defenses available to them at a given time and so punching straight away would be aggressive but a snake can not very well talks its way out of a confrontation.

We also have to remember that aggressive is unprovoked or invasive, if the snake feels cornered I would say that is provocation enough for defense and the snake certainly hasn't actively sought to put itself in this position with you so that rules out invasive, so I do not see how you could describe a brown as aggressive unless you were referring to its hunting of prey items.

I prefer the word pugnacious when summing up the average temperament of an Eastern brown.

Hehehehe I was about to say it's relative to asking what's heavier..a ton of feathers or a ton of bricks

Anyway, it's topics like these that do wonders for my post count

The bricks are heavier due to the effect of air(unless weighed in a vacuum)

we had a shop in jimboomba qld with about 20mts of glass. Oneday (no customers in the shop thankfully) I met my first eastern brown. It shot straight out of the carpark ( there are those little shrubs spred around) and straight for our windows. It then spent about 10 mins running up and down the front of the shop endlessly attacking the glass (perhaps reflection). Then I saw a car pull up in the second row of parks and out gets a mum and 2 kids. they hadn't seen it so i ran out and told them. The mum couldn't believe it she has lived there for years and never seen one this agressive. So in this case Hell yeah was agressive but if i were it in the middle of god knows where its hot and i see a very agressive ( reflection) other one infront of me I'd be pissed too.
