Cape York vs Blonde Maccies

I heard something the other day that has me thinking.
The comment was that Blonde Maccies and Cape York Maccies are NOT the same.My understanding was that the original blondes were collected from wild stock around CapeYork which are a much lighter colour than "normal" coloured Maccies from elsewhere around the country.
Can anyone shed some light this?

cheers M...........

Hi Fangs,
As far as I know they are basically the same thing.
It may be though that all Blondes are from Cape York, but not all Cape York's are blonde...
I'm interested to hear other's views on this one..

Cape york macs are not all blondes,Ture blondes are found in a small part of coast line between port douglas and cooktown (don't quote me on exact location).
Futher north they are normal phase, further south they are normal phase. In between blondes occur.
Cape york is the US term for blonde. Bob Withey started calling them blondes a few years back and the name stuck.
Just because a mac is from cape york doesn't mean it's a blonde.

CC, a cape york carpet is a similar thing just a different color phase of the coastal carpet. Some are very nice.

I was told the same thing as you were NoOne.
I wonder if there are varying shades of blondes?Would blondes and normals cross paths in the extremes of the blondes range?
Nic just out of curiosity is your lil maccie lightening with every shed?Ours definately are but the female isnt anywhere near as light as the male.

cape york macs

my opinion....lol

noone is pretty well right as far as locality goes.. blondes are in the vercenity of cooktown... how ever cooktowns not really classed as the cape and neither is port douglas.

north of cooktown the macs are lighter than normal in colour with some having a caremel hue. one from the blonds are very light some being almost cream/white in base colour.
one south from there eg port douglas south to carirns and beyond get daker as they get further south with some of our local animals having a pattern that is almost a purple colour om a light brownish base colour.(also very pretty).
if i could learn how to add pics to forum i could show some..lol
cheers paul.

Hi Fangs,
Big Mac looks just about the same after each shed (that is just the normal lightening of colour that comes with being newly shed).
Can't say I have noticed a big difference.
Are yours getting lighter each time?

Yeah they are getting lighter with every shed.It is subtle but they do seem to be lighter.maybe its because they are starting to thicken up in body and showing more base colour Im not sure but compared to our standard adults they are very light.

cheers M.......

Ps has anyone got a pic of a true "blonde maccie" that they could post as Im now curious as to what we have.
