Oh yeah call wires again I don't think you should be getting known for catching and releasing vens if you haven't done it befor, it's highly illeagal if you aren't licensed.
she is a friend and she said if there wasn't someone coming soon then she will kill it.. I have experiance with all snakes as i lived in South Africa with highly venomous/ dangerous snakes. Unfortunatly i am only 15 so i'm not old enough to get a license but if it was a brownie i would of left it.. maybe not a red belly but i wouldn't catch a brownie withought someone there that has experiance with them.. and yes she did have a cat thats why she wanted to kill it if Wires were not going to show up (haha and she called up Wires and told them to give me a job there lol)..

Well done Armand, another animal captured and released,
textbook stuff.
Love it when it all goes like clockwork.
I carry a pair of overalls in both my cars incase just for the callouts, I live in shorts in the summer and callouts can come at the most inconvenient times.
Once a tiger grabbed a hold of my jeans, just below the knee,I actually fellt the warm venom running down
my leg as he let the denim have it.
This was soon almost followed by another warm wet sensation...

nice at least it wasn't snappy as I recently picked up a 2.5 m dp an nearly tagged me.
P.S. I was removing it from a footpath where someone surely would of killed it.

Wink

you won't be able to get a catch and release permit at your age, just be careful if NPWS want to be nasty you can get fined for "helping" people as you are not licenced to touch native animals...
What area of Sydney are you (pm me details) and I will see what I can do in the way of helping you learn, as I am a licenced removalist. good to see your hearts in the right place though mate, well done. Pm me and we will talk.

Armand you do have to be 18 to do the venomous training course, and from what I have been told the reason is that the younger the person is that gets bitten the worse the venom/antivenom affects them.

That said if you decide to still go on rescues you really need to know your first aid, did you take a few compression bandages with you on this rescue? also wearing long pants and boots is important. I know that you said that you felt it was urgent to get there but it really doesnt take that long to put on the proper clothes.

Now onto WIRES as Aslan said 15 minuites isnt long at all, quite often the volunteer has to leave their work to do a rescue, then make sure they have their gear, drive to the location etc. and all this happens after the phone monitor has taken the call and located a volunteer who can do that particular rescue.
