I'm pretty certain the reason you have to be 18 it the insurance won't cover people under that age if they get biten.

and the fact that you have had a couple of "semi adult" years to think about if you want to be heading down that track.

When i was still catching for WIRES almost EVERY SINGLE TIME, the description of the snake wasn't very good. I've had people tell me they have a 1m long red belly in the laundry, only to be greated by a 30cm long Golden Crown. People saying they have a 2m red belly when in reality it would struggle to reach a metre.
I've also had someone tell me they had a diamond python in the garage, only to be great by a 1.5m red belly (after lifting a lounge they had stored in there).

The bottom line is never ASSUME you know what it is until you get there and ALWAYS go prepared for the worst case scenario. That is, hoop bag/large bag, jigger/hook, decent shoes, long pants and a COMPRESSION BANDAGE. Did you take one with you?

Otherwise one day that diamond python may turn out to be an angry brown and you won't be ready for it.

"Assumptions are the mother of all F%*K UPS!"
