LOL. Morelia man.... i wish it was mine!!!! This snake is in the US. As Green tree prices come down, i am sure we will see hybrids, at the moment there is no point interbreeding as what comes out may be stunning, but not a $5000 snake like the green tree. And it is for real, i have juvenile pics somewhere.

cheers

Do they change colour at all? Like it would be awesome if it changed from yellow/black to green/black.

Cheers Hawkeye

Wow, now that is a nice snake, but if it is a hybrid then i wouldn't buy it, I feel as keepers we owe it to all of our snakes to keep them as close to what they are in nature as possible.
Cheers

As the dominant species we can do what ever we want with the lesser species. There's nothing wrong with a bit of trial and error.
Look at how many species of dogs there are now and they are all descendants from the one breed.
AS for keeping them natural....well that would be leaving them alone in the wild wouldn't it.
It's a bit hard to take the moral high ground when you've got some of god's creatures stuck in a box in your house.

you know what... i actually agree with what u have just said greebo. how can we keep them as close to nature when we have taken them out of the wild and put them in a 4x2x2ft box. why not try and experiment and see what you can come up with.

cheers

I agree, i think there is nothing wrong with hybrids, as long as they are labled so. I dont agree with hybrids that ppl sell as pure, like diamond cross jungles etc, as some diamond/jungles look like stunning jungles. As long as hybrids are sold as hybrids, i have no problem with them. Not that i will ever be doing it, it is illegal in SA, i think.

cheers

My problem with hybrids comes down to the well being of the animal and the hobby. How many animals are mutated by non purist hobbyists at the expense of the animals health? Such as gold fish with extra long finnage,it looks pretty but can hardly swim.Aquarium hobby took a big fall due to hybridised species with unknown origins. When I was in the fish hobby any hybridised animals (bred by acccident) would be culled.IMO every hobby that has had non purist fancy mutating breeders involved has suffered to an extent. As mentioned, dogs all descend from 1 species, but do we realise that majority of disowned and strayed dogs are cross bred mongrels?Same as unwanted reptiles/fish/birds etc being released rather than killed.Would it not be safer/better to see released pure breds rather than cross bred species that then breed with native species and over run the wildlife (1 possibility). The problem with hybrid animals is that they usually end up with a good market due to them being so different and more expensive meaning more profits for breeders.Soon prices drop and more and more people start breeding them and less people breed pure breds (2 possibility). This leads to a hobby that has been virtually stuffed up by some so called expert (who even has a great name and reputation for hes efforts at creating a new breed) who is no more than a money hungry jerk that has no passion for anything except profit, reputation and created bloodlines. For the sake of argument we can look at these GTP x Jungles. So whats the humidity levels and heat temp requirements? I know GTP and Jungles are both kept differently, would it be safe to assume that there is nothing known about these species therfore they were bred at a risk to the animals well being? Also heat sensing pits in GTP are more refined than other pythons, were these risked during this mutation?

Perhaps someone could write a caresheet on this animal then they too can contribute to killing the hobby of PURE AUSTRALIAN animals!

Hear hear CC old chap, I agree with you! Having been in the fish hobby also I would hate to see done to reptiles what has been done to so many fish species. We cannot improve on nature so why try if not only for our own selfish reasons?

In regards to Marks statement.
I too think any hybrids should be labeled as such.Labelling them as a new breed or a pure breed leads to mistaken breedings that ruin the hobby.Such as intergrades sold as pure diamonds or pure carpets etc,we then end up with hundreds of breeders selling what they thought were pure breds (and yes we have already seen this one havn't we).
And if x breeds are unwanted should be culled not released into wildlife.Carpondros or chongles ARE NOT a new breed. They are nothing more than a cross bred hybrid mutant and should be sold as such.
