Childreni setup?

I have a couple of questions regarding the setups of Childreni pythons and I want to make sure what I am doing is right.

Choice of Enclosure: Right now I got a spare 10 Gallon Leader (20"x10"x12") lying around after it had been the closet for about a decade. I am going to sterilize it sometimes this week with peroxide or nolvasan. When its growth rate slow down as an adult, which I have been told is around 18 months of age, I am going to use a 20 Gallon Long or a 30 Gallon as its permament home.

Heating: I am planning to put a sheet of aluminium foil and 1/4" polystyrene underneath the undertank heating unit to radiate the heat upward; I am assuming that an undertank mat or human heating pad is sufficent enough to warm up the enclosure. I am planning to get some slate tiles cut so I can fit them into the glass vivarium to help it retain the heat at night, however I am starting to think that is not necessary.

Decors: I am planning putting a 20"x5" shelf 6" off the vivarium's bottom or a pair 10"x5" shelves at 4" and 8" off the ground. Now I have been told I can create perches and artifical branches for the Childreni by using capped PVC pipes or dowels in coordination with wardrobe rod holders. I have not seen a Children's Python set up with this before, only with the artifical vines and baked branches. If I can use dowels, then I will wrap them with artifical ivy or pothos, however I have a question: do they prefer their dowels crossed or in one-directional?

I plan to place a waterbowl at the bottom and on the shelf as well. This is critical as where I live is well-known for the lack of relative humidity, which is often unfavorable for wooden furnitures. Now I want to make sure that the low humidity, which almost always under 40% and sometimes low as 10% or 20%, will not affect the python or do I have to monitor it even though two water bowls might be enough to buffer it? I am also going to be running an air purifer in the room, which in turn will take more humidity out of the air.

Now for hides, I am going to place artifical plants on the back of the vivarium to let it feel more comfortable. I will also get three or more water catchers of varying diameter for it to grow out into. I am hoping this is enough.

what you are doing sounds fine.....

with the dowels, cross them over or run them the same way.... which ever you like, im sure the python wont care!

with the humidity, just watch the snake... see how it sheds..... and then make adjustments as needed!

why are you going to run an air purifier in the room? taking what humidity is there away will only start to cause problems if you dont really need to run it!

Eh, I run an air purifier in all of my rooms as I have a tendency to come home intoxicated and make the building reek of alcohol -- which I myself not found of the day after. I know it is stupid, but that is my current lifestyle right now.

So I am guessing it is fine to be under 40% relative humidity then... thanks!

just move the waterbowl closer to the hot end when its about to shed and it should be fine!
