Just a word of warning with the lids - they don't always make a good seal - 28 L sounds smallish so your snake may be able to push its way out of the lid.

There are some options - depending on how safe or sorry you want to be: You can do nothing, and check from time to time that there's no easy way out. Or you can use bulldog clips (I do).

Make sure you drill plenty of air holes all around the container.

I use heat cord on most of my containers - they're 50L and bigger - so only 1/4 of the tank is heated, the remainder is not. But I live in Cairns so it very rarely gets too cold.

I got a 15W heat cord, it does the job.

I know others who use heat mats directly. But make sure you use a thermostat then.

Good luck

I am not sure the age or size of the snake as i am not getting it till next year and just wanting to get everything setup. Its probably gonna be a hatchling. I do have a bigger one its size is 45 cm long 31cm wide and 34cm high. It has special locks witch seal the lid down tight and i will be drilling lots of hole in the lid and around the side top.

If you have till next year , spend the money and get a better tub IMO ,go down the your local $2 shop or bunnings and get a tub with a flat base , that way it will sit flush on your mat or cord and transfer the heat much better ....also get one that will lock down the lid , better to be safe then sorry as childrens can escape out of very small gaps , as some of those cheaper roller tubs lids are very lose fitting from what i have seen .
i use 2L sistema tubs ( from woolies ) for my childrens hatchlings and up the size as they grow till they go to a cage .

Yes the sistema containers from woollies are excellent.
Be very carefull of the lids on bigger containers, as hubby made that mistake and we lost our young hypo female coastal. He thought that there was no way she could get out - but as it turns out he was wrong - as usual.
It is a hard and expensive lesson to learn.
A good way to put air holes in , is by using a soldering iron - we bought one for 10 bucks and it is the best investment we made.
