Question Childrens Python - Feeding

We bought a yearling 18 days ago that fed on a pinkie before we purchased. Since then we have tried to feed him on pinkies on a number of occasions without success. We are novices at this although we have followed closely the instruction we have been given to care for the snake. Has anyone got any suggestions regarding the best method of feeding, should we be concerned that he has not eaten during this time? Thank you. Bill

18 days is no worries without food. They can go a fair while. Make the hot end round 32 (maintain a cool end), give the little fella a week to settle in. My bigger guy only eats once every 14 days. So 18 days is no worries.

We have him in a well ventilated plastic container big enough for his size. We bought an 8 watt heating mat and put it at one end of the container with his water at the other end. He seems settled and sometimes he sleeps on top of the plastic shelter we provided for him. What do you think, we were told by the breeder that 8 to 10 watt mat was the most suitable/

The wattage of your heat mat means nothing - what temperature is the hot end...?

...and I don't mean to seem too harsh, but if he isn't eating - then he doesn't really seem settled...

Now, firstly, don't stress - one of my young Stimmies just fed for the first time since I got him...2 months ago...18 days is nothing. Now, try this advice for starters - leave him alone for a week or two, as in, do not handle him, disturb him, nothing! Change his water regularly and that's it...

...provided your temps are fine (roughly 32c in the hot end) he should eat in not too long...but as I said, don't stress...
