I'm waiting for my Broome Stimson's to hatch (any day now) then I will be picking a representative hatchy from some pics of the clutch. I'm aware that hatchies look nothing like grown snakes, but I'm amazed at how many of you look at a clutch of hatchies and proclaim them "stunning" or "great colours" etc.
What should I be looking for, and how can I get a rough idea of how an adult will look from a hatchling pic?
Realistically, I think I will be requesting the most placid/best feeding snake, but just so I have an idea of what I should be looking for when choosing...

Feisty is good in hatchlings. It generally means they're healthy! Don't be scared to go for one that bites as they settle down soon enough! As for markings i'm sorry i can't help you there for Stimsons.

Best way to tell what they might turn out like is just looking at both of the parents

ps, hows ya hatchy enclousure going? | Got a click clack yesterday, stabbed air holes in it with a hot skewer and I've set it up with the little hide and water bowl my hubby gave me for Christmas...and the damn snake hasn't even hatched yet! I'm like a little kid wearing my new school uniform in the summer holidays before school even starts!
Did the painting on my fantastic homemade rock climbing wall last night, I just need to seal it! We won't be using it until she moves into her big enclosure, but as I said, I'm keen!!!
Waiting with bated breath to hear from Kane when they've hatched... | | |
