SORRY to revive an old thread... But I'm trying to work out my click clack arrangement

How many holes should you have? And how big would I get for a litttle maccie? I think I've seen them at Howards Storage World...

PS that is THE CUTEST click clack arrangement on the first page, with the pill box hide - with the printed kitchen towel it looks like a nursery for a baby chicken or something LOL!

Young Mac's are only tiny so you wouldn't need anything huge, mine is about 3 months old and still comfortable in a something like 20cm long 10 cm wide click clack. As for holes you just want enough to ventilate theres no certain number.

Contemplating moving him into a bigger one soon i have one that i stick him in just while i clean his out but the lid doesn't click on it just sits there and i'm sure he could push it off if i left him in it full time, anyone know a way to solve this or will i just have to buy another?

Can you get a thermostat for just a heat mat? I want the heat mat with a click clack setup, but I worry about the reaaaally hot days we sometimes get in Melbourne (38 - 42 degrees)

Yep, i have a Microclimate Ministat 100 that i use with my heat mat, its very easy to use just plug the mat into the thermostat plug, plug the thermostat into the powerpoint, set your temp on the dial and set the probe at the hot end and thats it. They can be a bit pricey though.

Ahh thanks for that - I don't mind pricey if it's what we need (if you can't afford to look after an animal properly don't get it and all that LOL), and since a Click Clack is much cheaper than a big enclosure it's ok

I assume I need a thermometer at the cool end too?? What do I do if the cool end is over 30 (eg super hot day)?

Hey everyone, sorry to hijack this thread, but speaking of click-clacks... I'm getting an Olive hatchy soon , and I cant decide what size enclosure to get- I'm tossing up between two click-clack type containers; one is 600Wx390Dx300H, and the other is 600Wx440Dx170H. So basically, should I go the bigger floor space, or more height?

Cheers,
Adam

Krim,

I'm keeping hatchy olives in 7 litre Sistema tubs at the moment. I am about to upgrade them to underbed storers, which measure around 80cm x 40cm x 15cm.

They've been in click-clacks for around 8 months, but they were smaller than normal as they were the result of twins, and I don't feed as often as some people.

Wayne, you don't need any artificial lighting. In saying that I don't mean you put them away in a dark cupboard either!!

This is my click clack set up

There's a small 4watt heat mat in the end where the black hide is. I took out the brown bowl because it was a bit big. I now have a small tea light candle holder in there.
