Coastal Growth

Hi there, i'm just wondering if anyone with a costal has kept records of its growth? I've got a 90cm yearling and I'd like to get an idea of how quickly she's going to go from mini-snake to monster. Does anyone have records of roughly how much they grow per year and at what age they stop? I get the impression it's about three or four they stop gaining length and just bulk up, yeah?

Cheers,
Kathryn.

Two of my coastals came from the same breeder but are totally diferent in size . One is 7 ft at 3yrs old , a stunning female with a great liking for large rats . The other is 2 . 5 yrs and a very slender 4 ft male , if l'm lucky he will eat a fzzy rat every 2-3 weeks . l could use him to breed a new type of Pygmy Coastal .

Interesting, that's certainly a significant variation. Were they a similar size when they were younger?

And what's your association with Sea Shepherd? My best mate just got back from the last Antarctic journey. Excellent work if you were involved in it as well

females always grow bigger then males, I have 3 cape york Coastals my female is 4.5 years got her 3 years ago and she was 1 metre she is now over 9 ft eating 2 large rats a fortnight to a month. the male I bought a month apart from her was same age about 90cm long and is now just 9 ft eating only fresh killed 1 large rat a fortnight to a month he is too 4.5 years old. Last is my new male I bought about 1.5 months ago he is 7 years old and only a lil under 7 ft.

it comes under how much you feed them and how much of a fussy eater they are. if you intend on breeding later try keep your male about 6 - 7 ft and good weight other wise you'll most probably get the same resolt I did for 2 years with my big boy, to big and lazy to do the job.

When it comes to the size of a Costal, It all depends on the the snake itself.
People can be different hights, Coastals can be different lengths. My boy is 9 years old and still growing, this time last year he was just over 10 foot, now he is well over 11 foot long (grown about 16 inches this past year)
I got him as a hatchling 1.5 foot, by the time he was 4yo he was 6 foot long and has grown about a foot in lengh every year since, Im waiting for him to stop lol.
Here are some picks of him 1st pic was 3 years ago (around 7.5 foot) 2nd pick 4 weeks ago (over 11 foot)
Cheers Andy

,
Yeah Pimp as close to if not more, here is my measuring method.
Im 6 foot 1 and I stand on a chair that is 2 foot high. I then wrap about a foot of his tail around my hand, raise my arm up over my head and his head and at least a foot and a half of his neck is on the ground. at 6,1 on a chair with my arm in the air, my hand is at least 10 foot from the ground. It many not be 100% lol, do you have a better way?

Also his tail goes under the left arm of the girl on the left of the pic and right down her back.
