Coastal Shedding Problem

My coastal started to shed last night. He got about 3 Inches past his head and the shed skin tore off. He then stopped trying to roll his skin back and went back to his favourite hiding hole.
I just want to know what is the best thing to do? How long should I leave it before I intervene? Any info would be helpful.

Thank you.

my water python does this a lot. what i do is fill the sink up with tepid water and dunk the snke in. i let him crawl through my hands allowing the friction of my fingers to gently and slowy unroll his skin. it work best if u can keep most of his body underwater.

Thanks for all your info. I got Rocky into the sink and let him run through my fingers. His old skin started coming off really well then. He quickly figured out that I was giving him a hand and was very well behaved. He's now all bright and shiney, just like a new one.

Thanx again. Great help goes a long way...
