corn snakes

hey,
does anyone know if it's legal to keep corn snakes in Australia, and if a class 1 licence will cover them.

I know that is the rule that you can only keep natives, but recently on TV a woman in WA donated a very large albino burmese python to australia zoo it lived in its own caravan

Yes she had it but it was being kept illegally .Pretty sure she had a few questions to answer to the authorities they are out there but it's not a risk worth taking

They are in the black market pet trade, but its not worth it....
and they have reasons for the laws aswell...if it is full of eggs and gets out, then its jsut another pest species that we have to deal with..and we already hav enough
and i think they have already found wild populations somewhere in northern vic

We have wild populations in the NT because of one bloke... But he got caught about a month back.

Yeah thats the thing...he might of been caught but the snakes already in the bush and it could have a huge impact on small native mammals, or any native animal really.....how did he cause it all?

Yeah i feel the same way...theres heaps of exotic herps that would be great in the pet trade in australia....
but we just cant take the risk....even tho they're already here
