| | | Cross breeding B&G with B&W Jungles???
Hi everyone
Just wanted some honest opinions on what you all think of cross breeding Black and Gold Jungles with Black and White Jungles? And I don't mean just your average run of the mill Jungle, I'm talking about pure top line Jungles...Krauss bloodline in the B&G crossed with another high end B&W!
Has anyone done it before and what was the results? (any pics would be great).
Or do you think I would get far better results keeping the B&W's in their own blood line other then crossing it with a B&G?
As I'm only new to breeding, I guess what I'm trying to aim for above is to try and get half a clutch of B&W's and the other half B&G's, give or take a few. But as I said, I'm new to this, so that question may sound stupid to most of you, but if anyone can tell me if I'm right, or if I'm going to get a clutch full of blended or washed out colours in each hatchie from both breeds?
Any comments or advice is really appreciated.
Thank you...
Wayne

yes.. as u were saying in ur last prediction.. seems that u probly will end up wif washed out colours and it woodnt turn out very good by the sounds.. i have always questioned cross breeding in that way too.. im not 100% on the genetics or breeding of snakes either.. but my educated guess is that it woodnt be half and half..in the clutch.. any of the more experienced herpers can correct me if im wrong.. thanx....

I have no idea to the answer of your question... But i have been looking for a black and white jungle for ages, are you going to breed them this season, if so is there a list of some kind i may be able to worm into? I am local to you.

to get ur clearer colors don't cross them.
seeming theres more b&g i'm guessing that the gold is the dominant gene. so the majority if not asll will be black and gold. i may be wrong and hopufully someone who has tried this can give u more insite.
but honestly i think u are better off establishing stunning lines urself by keeping 100% b&g and 100% B&W. that way pple know what there buying and if breeding down the track they know what their offspring will look like.
kinda like olives. u want olives u breed for olives. not mixing then up.
hope this helps. good luck with ur breeding

Crossing them sounds like a good way to waste the money you forked out on quality B&Ws

or they could randomly come out totally awesome.
and if you are breeding for enjoyment, you have what? 1 year when they probably don't fetch as much money.
but if you don't own them in order to make money, what exactly have you lost?

there is b&w cross b&g in the for sale section not really my cup of tea but they are your snake s sound a bit like a waste of alot of effort to mix top of line jungles of different colors the whites wont be as white and the golds wont be as gold whats the point...?

I just think its wrong to cross breed to the fact why buy these very exspensive animals to cross breed them anyways they won't fetch you near the amount you payed for them and not many people want to buy a cross breed anyways which meens your going to left with so many hatchies at the end anyway. Unless you are trying to exsperiment on colour and pattern changers and what to have loads of hatchies left over I wouldn't do it. If you want the best results then keep to the true blood line B&W's will fetch you $3000 + each and B&G's are about $450 + but if you cross bread you could probably get $500 - $1000 ea thats just a guess too guys. If I was you I'd wait till you have bred for afew years first and can truely afford to try something new. cause can you truely say that you are able to feed and keep all the left over little ones that don't get sold? you have to understand that not all of them will sell, so you have to house them and feed them through out there life spand you may even have more chance selling them as adults when it comes to it.
anyways thats what I believe anyways and if you really want to do it, you have made your mind up and you will ened up doing it anyways. Best of luck on what ever you deside.
cheers Jody

Thanks to everyone for their replies, really appreciated and point taken. Therefore I have decided not to go ahead and cross breed them and shall be purchasing a pair of B&W's only!
I'm very excited and can't wait to get them!
Thanks again...

Was it really necessary to add this post to the thread. We have children in here and I hope the mods will come along and delete the above post before the kids see it. There are better ways to get your point across without offending everybody else with your foul language.

If the white and gold is going mix, that fault we become dominant and it may prove difficult breeding good quality from anything from this line. I vote don't cross them - keep the colours and quality pure.
