| | | I have 2 darwin pythons, one female, one male, roughly the same age, approx 15 months old, and I want to breed them when they are the right age/weight, and I keep them seperate, but what I want to know is if I have a large enough enclosure and I put my male in the enclosure and the female in a click clack in the same enclosure over a certain amount of time could I release her from the click clack into the same enclosure, until it is close to breeding time for them, as I know I need to seperate them for a more successful breeding, but in the non breeding time is it ok to slowly put them together in the same enclosure.

Cause if you are..you can buy some fairly cheap heat mats...

| | | | I know that if you throw darwins in together straight away, there will be trouble. what kind of trouble I do not know but I have been told by two different sources not to go straight away into putting them together. That I needed to put her scent in his enclosure and let him explore it, bask on it, circle it, whatever he wants to do, and he has done all that. Now I want to release her into his domain but am a little timid as I do not want to wonderful snakes to turn into nasties, or dead. I also want to breed them when they are old enough and want to know the effect of putting them together. It has nothing to do with the heat source, it has to do with territory

| | | | only when after cooling when you introduce the male to the female and the female actualy turns out to be a male then there could be fighting.
also when feeding make sure there fed apart and long enough for the smell of food to go away |

| | | | bulla: if it really concerns u, put them together for short periods of time when u r home and u can watch to make sure its ok... but i also know of many situations where snakes live quite happily together, esp m and f of the same species.... |

| | | | cool, so my female who is new to me is in a click-clack inside my males enclosure, she fed yesterday (she was a wednesday feeder before I bought her). And he feeds this Saturday. It should be ok to let her go in the enclosure today and have a roam around?

| | | | Thanks Simone....I know they are too young for breeding at the moment, I just wanted to see about keeping them together and how it would affect them in the future as breeding partners, do I have to seperate them when I cool him or can I cool them together. I have been told that if they are together constantly up to breeding she will just be used to him and same visa versa and they will not be interested in each other, so in that case how much of a break apart is advisable
