Desert Climate Substrate

What would be the best substrate to use for a desert climate snake (Woma Python). I'm getting mixed reviews, and would like to know what you guys use? Thanks a LOT!!

sand paper, i really cant make up my mind if you need to use one or the other so use both on a serious note, i'd use newspaper for any snake. Apart from aquatic species.

yeah, i don't think i'd ever use sand. I've heard WAY too many things about it!

on the newspaper, wouldn't ink hurt the animal? I mean I use it if someone brings in mites or something, but in the tank...I don't usually use anything but eco-earth ( I know i can't use it for a woma b/c it holds too much humidity) or repti-bark, that I don't really like, and I take EVERYone out and feed them on papertowels. I want something that is safe, but good to look at, ya know?

Would newspaper be the only thing good to use? Is that what everyone uses?

newspaper is the best imo, most if not all big breeders use it but you can use marine carpet, its looks a little better

SLATE TILE, or PATTERNED GLASED CERAMIC TILE.. :D

slate tile or patterned glazed ceramic.. its the only safe similar product to the hard packed clay.. as desert sand is calcium based and can have the same effect as calci-sand..

tile with give you colour texture and an easily cleanable suface, it will also hold heat for many hours throughout the night.. its also natural.... and 100% safe.. unlike sands and breeders choice..

the tile is best for bearded dragons as its most natural to the central region, and its go tno chance of impaction, and easier for them to walk on.. im not sure abut snakes and their location with soils, but for beardies its excelent..

You can put Woma's on Slate tile?? Don't they like to burrow? We have our Uromastyx, and our bearded's on slate, but I never knew you could put Woma's on it??

Newspaper will not harm your snake.
You can also buy rolls of unprinted newpaper from any newspaper printer, they can't use it if there's not enough left to do a full run.
