Hi All,
I had the worse thing happen last night, I had two of my new keelbacks die. Checked them at 11pm, all fine. 1130 one dead, 12 one more.
I am totally upset with myself that I could let this happen. I have brought it down to the goldfish as the two that died are the two that ate, and also due to the fact both regututated the goldfish.
I'm upset as two were presents for friends, and now I can't. I'm sorry guys.
I've waited a year for these snakes, and this happens. It's almost tempting to give up, if this happened again i'd be affraid i'd be so devastated i'd give up all my snakes.
If you haven't got anything nice to say please don't say anything, i'm already blamming myself and feel so shi.te this morning.
Anyway
David.
Anyway one is ok, so i suppose thats a good thing.

Know how you feel mate I had the same thing happen with a few hatchy stimsons, all died 1 day after a feed at the same time. It`s no reason to give up though, just try and learn from it.

Very sorry to here that mate...
Was it the temps of the water or something that they didn't digest the feed?
Has happened to me before too, not something ya want to happen..
Chin up mate, lesson learned and will only make you a better keeper for it.

Hey I am a girl! Reptiles are always a learning curve, you will be OK, you still have one little guy to focus on. It would be devastating. Can they not eat goldfish?

Don't beat yourself up over it mate, I had a mate that just lost 9 snakes cause the petshop had washed mice with something for fleas...obviously toxic to snakes...then labelled them as 'clean-unwashed'. That was practically his whole collection, he sold the rest off, including all his gear, but 6 months later is getting back into it again.
Just take it easy for a few days don't feed them goldfish from now on, I guess.

Could it have been a chemical used in the tank the goldfish were kept in? might be worth checking out with your fish supplier as to what they use in the tanks and maybe in future buy them about a fortnight in advance and keep them in fresh water with no chemicals to clean them out.
Just a thought.

Sorry to hear that gillsy.
But don't give up. It is heartbreaking enough losing 2.... imagine selling off your whole collection?
Stick with it and learn from it, as others have said it will make you a better keeper.

Temps were perfect, I suspect teh goldfish had just been treated with something.
28.1 water temp
29.4 hot spot.
They only eat goldfish or other fish.

I know, but you know how much i've wanted these for pugs, I can't believe how hard its hit me.
I broke the rule of letting them settle in first, and i paid the price.
