diamond python or bhp

Hi all

what do you all think you would get if the desition was up to you a black headed python or diamond python? i now black headed pythons are alot dearer but i think they are both as pretty as each other, so what do you all think and your reasons of your desitions? at the moment my minds leaning towards a diamond, but the problem is that i make up my mind and then i change it in a couple of days. also i have promised it will be my last snake so i cant get both. lol

Cheers Shane

Diamonds need to be kept at lower temps than other snakes, they can die from 'diamond syndrome'

They also need UV while others don't, maybe you should get another opinion as I don't keep diamonds

and i take my bhp out 2-3 times a day and my diamond 1-2 times a day.. for about half an hour or when im watching crocodile hunter i keep em out for an entire hour..
i have experiance with carpets, and also spotted and *****ren families, but as u are saying you bhp is alot more placid compared to you diamond isnt this the personality of the snakes not the species? i just cant make up my mind now im leaning towards a bhp lol.

Good choice of snakes, mate. I've got a DP and am about to get a BHP. I couldn't recommend one over the other. My DP is perfect. We only got a DP first because they were a lot cheaper at the time. Good luck either way.

Definitely a BHP.

I just don't like diamonds, personally; I think most of them are pretty hideous, aesthetically speaking.

Besides aesthetics, as you obviously believe dp are also attractive, the one thing which would turn me off them is the whole Diamond Python Syndrome thing. Whether it actually exists, god knows, but it still puts me off them.

BHP are pretty damned simple to keep--in fact, I doubt it gets any easier, so I don't see how you can go wrong with them. They're beautiful, they're (generally) of a good disposition, they're simple to keep and the prices have dropped from historic levels, so you just can't go wrong!

I probably would've gone for a bhp first if it wasn't for the price. Either way, I'd be wanting a DP now. Here's some pics...
