They found slightly over the border, in Victoria.

Ah!, of course, the old Malacoota diamond. More often found in a hessian bag at the local. But yes Im told they exist in the wild there. Have yet to meet anyone who has personally seen one though. Except the guy with the hessian bag of course.

Hey Hydro.
Just ignore it and sit back and read with interest. Sometimes it can be quite amusing with what some members have to say. I am sure there are some out there who intentionally bait other members just to get a response. All in good fun of course. If it gets too serious I am sure the mods will step in.
P.S. Greebo hasn't been blamed for anything lately so it's gotta be his fault.

I await the bait......

Your opinions please.

Well after reading the past entries, it sounds like there are heaps of selfproclaimed experts in here, surely one of you would be able to answer these seemly simple questions for me. I bought my first snake on saturday. She's 4months old, feeding well, and has shed already(although not yet in my care). There seems to be a lot of differing opinions when it comes to the temperature Diamonds should be kept at during the year. I keep Matilda at around 25degs most of the time, she's only 4months old, is this too cold? There's one thing that makes me think... If Gosford is the supposed epicentre of the species existance, wouldn't it then make sense to mimick the outside temps of gosford in her enclosure to some extent?
The other thing, I generally handle her for about 30mins everynight while i watch the news. Is this too often? I always wait til she's defecated before handling after feeding.
The floor is now yours Men, argue as you will, I think it's great people can be so passionate about something that isn't illegal.

I rarely handle my animals, but when I just had my bredli I used to handle him a few times a day.... he never became overly stressed.

I have never kept diamonds..but this is my opinion:
About keeping diamonds the same temp. as gosford might not be such a good idea...if the temp is say 2 degrees..there is really no chance that the snake will be found outside, and will actually be in a log or burrow or soemthing that is a lot warmer then the outside temp.

No arguments from me. I keep my diamonds hot end at about 28 down to about 23. Give them a good gradiant and they will find their comfortzone in there somewhere.

do women count? i keep my diamonds up to about 29.5 in the warm end and the cool end is ambient temps...usually about 24.

i think handling once a day is fine but others will tell you its too much. as long as she's not obviously stressed then it wont hurt to have her out that often. i give a few days after feeding before handling but i dont usually wait until after they've defecated...sometimes i do but thats only if they look like they're gonna bust and i dont wanna get crapped on...AGAIN lol.

Sorry Zoe, of course women count.
Thanks for your imput everyone, it was really appreciated. In my opinion there's nothing worse than irresponsible pet owners. And i want her to live for ever as you can imagine.

Do you stuff around adjusting the night temps just because the animal has fed? What are you using to control temps?
