It depends on the size of the snake, if you are getting a hatchling you will only need a click clack. and how long does it take to get a licence? it took about 3 weeks to get mine.

just adding onto the "how large should their enclosure be". When a diamond gets to around 4-5 years old it should be moved outside. The majority of people i know that have diamonds have them outside (the only ones with diamonds inside have little hatchlings in click clacks).. Saying that there is no 100% proof that your diamond will survive longer outside especially because your in geelong and diamonds arn't native in that area. In your case I would have a half inside/ half outside cage so that the snake has an option of coming in for warmth or going outside to cool down.

Diamonds do fine inside, you just have to supply UV light.
My 6 foot Female is in a 1200X1200X600 enclosure and is doing fine.

There's nothing to say it hurts them and better safe than sorry, though to be honest even if you're having them inside they benefit from a trip outdoors a few times a week UV or not. Sunlight, fresh air and, important so you don't wind up with a porky Diamond, a little exercise (over-feeding is common in captivity for these fellas as they're sort of always hungry).
Mine like to sit on the bonnet of my car and wait for a rat to go past. It never does, but he lives in hope.
