Diamond Pythons in Nth Qld

Just wondering if people keep Diamond Pythons in North Queensland or is the climate an issue for them?

A few people on the tablelands keep them but the coastal areas are too hot and humid.

I would love to keep a few, but I can't afford to climate control 1 room for 1 species...

I actually started a thread on something similar (re. keeping them in Noosa) a while back. The general consensus seemed to be, if you are keeping them inside in an air-conditioned house you will be fine as you can control the temp adequately over summer.

A few people suggested that on the Sunshine Coast, you could keep them outside in a cool, shaded area of the yard eg behind a shed or at the back of the house. Not sure if this would apply in Nth Qld tho...

I know a person who keeps his diamonds outside and they successfully mated last season - they seem healthy enough. But thats just central QLD not far north.

It still gets pretty hot around here in summer.

Maybe consider a port mac, has diamond looks but argueably more hardy.

I have them - just need to watch the temps and humidity is all. A mate of mine kept them here for many years also...

A constructive suggestion to the administrators: please establish a "kid's corner" on this web site.
