diamond shed

Hey fellow herpers,
2 days ago i went herping down at gosford area was out there for about 4 hours only seen a few skinks then came across a diamond shed is measures 8.6ft long and is 16cm wide now thats a massive diamond can see a few scars on the snakes shed i took it home and now keeping it heres a few pics.

The shed isnt a reliable length of the animal.

well my 6-7 foot coastal has like 8 foot sheds almost

Measure the shed of one of your own snakes
and compare it to the actual length of the animal

hmm ok then well it still is impressive so that means the snake would have been about 6 to 7 ft long

my female diamond python is spot on 2m and her last shed was 2.7m.so going off that figure,if you divide the length by 1.35 you should in the ballpark of its actual length.should put the python around 1.8-1.9m.

The shed being moist will stretch when the snake is peeling it off.
So when it dries it will be at least 1 foot longer on a snake of that length.
