Hey I know this is stupid but can pythons (Athertons) tell the difference between a pinky and a fuzzt rat?? We have fuzzies taht are the same size as pinkies but she will not eat them at all. She ate 2 pinkies yesterday. Had 1 then we tried a fuzzy but she just sat there watching it so we got another pinky thawed out and wham she took it sraight away.
How do we move her up to a fuzzy?? I joked about but shaving the hair off!! She is 9mths old now.

We have tried that a few times but her feed yesterday was 2 pinkies, she just ignored the fuzzy that lay in front of her but when Kellie showed her the 2nd thawed pinky she took it right away. These animals are meant to send us crazy!!
SO do they know the difference, the size was the same only the fuzzy has fuzz!!!

Barry went to the trouble of picking out the smaller fuzzies so Kellie could use them but Bree has other ideas. She is such a sweetie always got her head and neck out of her hide to see what is happening. I took her out for a cuddle and she didn't want to go back in, tried to climb back over my hand and then she had a look inside her warm hide and decided to hang around the glass doors and wait to see if she was brought out again. |

in my opinion, fuzzies have more of a fruity bouquet aroma.

try when she is just finishing swallowing the pinky, sit the fuzzy gently in his/her mouth and let her take it out of your hand that way, whether or not it will help eat by itself is something to see but its worth a shot

and at 9 months should be taking fuzzies at a minimum maybe even weaners
try not feeding for a bit and only offer things with fur also has the added bonus of not just being mush like a pinkie

get tara to show her how to do it
persistance is the key....... Try heating the fuzzy in warm water or try scenting by rubbing the pinky all the fuzzy.
Or brain the pinky onto the fuzzy. good luck.....

The other way is just to try fuzzies without trying the pinkies. If she refuses the feed let her go until the next scheduled feed she should get a little snappy by that stage and take what ever you offer her.....
