| | | Do you see your antaresia much? My maculosa is in a fairly flat click-clack and I've been considering getting a taller display cage for him. But he doesn't seem to hang around outside of his hide much at all. I hardly ever see him. Sometimes he pops his head out to see what's going on. I wonder if he had more room if he'd be out more.
Does yours hang around outside it's hide? Does it ever perch in the branches? |

| | Yes, that Hix Moderator | Join Date: Mar-04 Location: Sydney | | | Mine tend to spend a lot of the time on the ground, but will climb over any branches they have but not stopping to perch. I find they are most active at night, so go in one night and you'll probably see him cruising round his click clack.

| | | Seem all my antaresia are nocturnal I mostly see em at night
....... In the middle of the night when the lights off they use most of there enclosures (some enclosures are 90cm high)
My big spotted tends to sleep up the top of her enclosure all the time in full view - she has done that for years
hope this helps

When the lights go on in her room she stops... pretends that no one can see her. Then keeps moving. She will use her entire 4 foot of tank without a worry including any branches. But she doesn't stay up high.
This morning for the first time ever I found her sleeping down the cool end of her tank ontop of rocks in plain view. Normally she has three obvious hides and in one you can't even tell she's in there unless you have a torch!
On the other hand, I never ever see my coastal - he's always in his hide! But I know he's there!
During the day - on most occasions they are well hidden. |

| | | | my childreni spends most of her time day or night outside of her hide, either curled up on her heat rock, or just sleeping next to her water bowls. she doesnt tend to climb much at all. i guess its whether they feel comfortable or not, i only get her out to feed, change or check. thats it, so she knows she aint going to get bothered. but yaeh, she spends about 80% of her time outside in full view |

I often wake up about 2 or 3 in the morning and catch him having a swim and doing unusual things, should set your alarm and catch your snake in the act. You have to remember they are nocturnal. | | |
