Lightbulb Dying for a Snake

hey guys,
I really, really would love a snake but have no idea what i'm up against. i have a few different monitors & dragons and never thought i would come to want to love a snake, but i cannot resist.

I have had to talk my husband around as he was toatally AGAINST snakes. He said i can get one if it doesn't grow over 4ft.

I have never held a snake before and have no idea about behaviour. I have been doing some researching to build my knowledge and am learning some interesting facts.

Any ideas on what snake i should get for my first, and especially DO'S & DONT"S.

Thanks

i am also learning....so im not saying any do's or donts!

i researched the pythons for over 6mnths....found that the childrens pythons group have great temperaments
my partner also has problems....with size
i got the "it will eat the cat!...the dog....the rabbits....(these are outside anyway!)"
so he wanted smaller for my son & I....hmmm
we(my son & i wanted bigger...better colour pattern)
so i cheated....LOL

i found out that the "Spotted Python"....grows to 4 ft.......but its relation
the "Cape York Blonde Macs"...as they call they ....go to 5.2 ft !!!!

so this maybe for you.... i found a breeder...a reputable one
you must make sure the lines come from this region

hope this helps!

i had the exact same problem, when i was researching, i didnt want to get a huge snake, because i have dogs and it could eat them, so i went for the smallest snake i could find, which just so happens to be a stimsons python, they oly grow up to a mtr and most have great temprements, its also a good begginer snake, if you have any questions be free to pm or ask

that is way to big for a hatchie what you need for a hatchie is a click clack they sell them at coles or wollies for around 11 dollars and them you need a heat mat to put under it on a thermostat good luck

dont take this as gospel

but im certain...that a 6x2x2...would be too big for any childrens pythons
that would keep a bredli!...as adult!!!!

they get upset if you put them in a too bigger habitat!
keep asking!

yes, that's ft, i just wanted it to have lots of room to slither about and adventure.

what sort of substrate should i use? i have a few empty tanks, small glass fish tanks, one of them is about 1ft long would this be ok too?

any more info would clearly help

Glass does not keep heat well!
click-clacks...& tubs may not be great to display a snake...but best for health
they are calmer
