Copperheads are my favourites but i've been a huge fan of broad heads, stephens banded's and pale heads for a while.

It's hard enough to stay patient without ppl showing off all these pics of wonderful copperheads!!!!! Cheers, keep the pics coming. Great looking snakes.

a question from a complete ignaramus when it comes to elapids ;
do they become tolerant of their handler like pythons ie less likely to try and bite..

| I was talking to guy who does snakeshows with intact elapids who is worried the eastern browns he has in the show have become so accustomed to being handled, they dont display the action and reaction needed to be a natural display of the snake.
In other words they have become to tolerant of humans to work and he now is looking for new more flighty animals.
Most / some snakes will become accustomed to you as you yourself become more confident around your snake.
Only one thing you need to remember really.. Treat Vens Like Vens..Do not be seduced into thinking you can handle them like pythons,,

They would hiss, hood and snap. And they was just from hearing me unlock the enclosure. Now with them snakes I can hook them, tail them and move them around without them being stressed. I love cobras and have always wished they were legalised in Aus but a friend of mine, who has been exposed to captive cobra's say they are over rated. They first month or so they hood and stand, make themselves be seen, but as they become accustomed to their handler and enclosure they no longer hood making them no more exciting then a tiger snake.

G'day guys,
I think I am the demonstrator that Barry is refering to.
We have terrible trouble with Eastern Brown Snakes calming down. This is the reason we now own 9 of them. Originally all but 1 would quite easily be coaxed into the typical "S" posture, now we only have two that do it. This is fantastic from a handlers perspective, but absolutely terrible for demonstrations and handling courses.
Cheers
Jonno
