Is their a cover over that fluroesecnt batten? If so and your thinking of providing uva/uvb it will not penetrate the plastic. Giving no benefit to the snake. You should take the plastic cover off (If their is one) and replace it with a mesh cover. Or if your just trying to provide light in the enclosure for a normal photoperiod then thats ok.

I wouldn't risk it mate, if the snake managed to get under the grass then under the tape you're screwed. Not worth the risk in my opinion.

Perhaps the grass will hold it in place? If not i would probably try a couple of drops of PVA glue.

I learnt the hard way about sticky tape. As a temporary measure I thought I would use masking tape to hold a digital thermometer in the enclosure.
I picked up a hatchling childreni from Afro and put her in the tank. After a couple of hours (and before heading off to bed) I thought I would double check her. Lucky I did as she was stuck head first behind the tape. It took me nearly 15 minutes of careful peeling to remove her safely.
I don't know who stressed out more. Me or her.
I can't remember what Afro told me but his advice to me was along the lines of, "If it does'nt dry don't use it in the enclosure" or something like that. It was a lesson that whilst being pretty harsh, turned out be ok and probably a good lesson.
