enclosure size?

hey all, i am seriously looking at getting a diamond python and am just wondering what woudl be a suitable size enclosure this type of snake. 6ft?

Also what is the best way to treat branches etc before putting them in an enclosure? I have heard that they should be baked in an oven....is this correct? shoull they be sprayed with disinfectant or anything as well. How long should they be baked for? I realize that this will vary depending on the size of the brach but any estimate woudl be helpful.

thanks.

Long enough for branches to heat through is adequate and yeah you are right it changes depending on the size of the branch. I would say most would be good at around an hour at 100 odd degrees. A 6ft enclosure would be as near as perfect as you could get for a DP, they can be kept in smaller enclosures but bigger is better. Just remember they like to climb so they need head space too.

alot of people on this site use out door enclosures for diamonds as from what i have been they don't go to well in indoor enclosures. most people get them up around 6ft high. i was going to get a dp but i like stimmies and bredlis better.but i was going to make a out door enclosure 6 x 6 x 6 ft

But make sure you soak after in just water to get all the bleach off of them. The bleach can cause problems for your snake.

i dont really have that much space to spare to build a 6ft x6ftx6ft and i wouldnt want to put a snake in an enclosure that was not right for it. A shame becasue i really like the markings on the diamonds and had heard that they had a very good temprement. any other ideas?

5ft wide x 3ft high x 2ft deep would be fine for a diamond... if you have that room available.

I would not recomend diamonds as a first snake, they inevatably get harder to keep as they get older, alot of people think they should be on a higher class permit.

Murry darlings are great first snakes.

I am not going against you but why would you say that?
Every Diamond I have seen, owned or been told about have been great easy going, easy handling pythons.
