| | | just wondering what size enclosures should be used for different species of snakes.
about all i've worked out is that vert should be used for tree dwellers and horiz for ground dwellers. i am having difficulty in determining the snake/enclosure size ratio
im thinking of buyin a jungle carpet or daimond for my first snake if that helps to narrow it down any
thanks heaps all

thanks wil |

I figured a bit taller with some trees to climb as I want to get a Jungle too, but I would like to know is it better to get the base dimension a bit bigger for a small snake, as i figured you could always block off a bit of the area if it was too much room for it, then as it gets bigger it could wake up and hey just got an extension on the house - cool.
That way it will still be in the same environment, just bigger...as opposed to getting a new bigger enclosure. Good idea?
Also Wil, why would you recommend a Diamond over a Jungle? |

| | | kiwicam that is a sweet idea. it'd save alot of money on enclosure upgrade to. can't wait to see what the more xperienced guys have to say.
and yeah wil,i know i'll never learn any other way but you still feel silly askin some questions that you think would be really obvious to the more expereinced folks out there |

here is the victorian standards http://www.dpi.vic.gov.au/dpi/nrenin...256DEA0027A820
realy the bigger the better. just place alot of hides |

Ah ok cheers wil, yea I have read they can be a bit snappy - but I guess I would like a snake with a bit of 'sass' anyway, bit of character to keep me on my toes
Ya gotta sasss it! |

When the snakes are jouvies, then a click clack is good for a while, until it's bigger, babies tend to freak out if kept in something too big straight away.
Then for a jungle yeah a taller rather than wider cage is needed.
Someone on here will be able to give you sizes but I also like your idea of making one that's expandable, that' sounds good.
It's easier than it looks to build your own out of a nice furnature piece too, have a search around here and you will see some beauties!

Also another quick question (sorry newtothis), with regard to the light cages, wouldn't they get hot enough themselves to burn the snake a bit if it touches it when they have a heat lamp inside? |
