Good luck finding him. He is probably still in the same room even though you think he isn't... it's incredible the spots they can hide. When I lost mine I pulled the place apart and found nothing, then when I was doing "night patrols" looking for him I found him back up on top of his vivarium. If you haven't found him by tonight I'd suggest getting up every hour or so during the night and using a torch to search the room for him. Make sure you keep the cat and any other animals out of the house whilst you're not there. It's a horrible thing to go through but snakes have been known to turn up even if it's months (and sometimes years) after. Just be careful when you're moving stuff around, sitting on couches, etc. Good luck!

Look in between newspapers / magazines you may have on the floor or on end/coffee tables. If you have heat vents on the floor that do not have flywire covering them it may be down there....

Check in your stereo....look behnd anything you have hanging on the wall like mirrors or paintings, they like to curl up behind them as well. Just think of anywhere you may not think it can possibly be.... and hopefully you find the little one safe and sound tucked up nice and cozy.

check where you've already checked incase he's moving about. Our stimsons escaped their enclosure. We found 1 squashed in under the amplifier on the tv unit. So never under estimate small gaps.

The other one we found 3 days later sitting on top of the stove after the kids cooked chips for lunch. We checked the stove, and checked again. I hope you find him soon.

OK i came home from work early today. Its Day 2 of searching. I completely pulled apart a room near the enclosure that we use as a storage room and i had no luck. I pulled out every box and dvd case and everything, i even pulled apart all the electrical appliances and he is defently not in there. My mum is cracking the ****s with me because i keep trying to keep the other animals outside, but she just feels sorry for them and lets them back in. Im sure if it was her $360 snake it would be a different story. I hav seriously pulled apart every room that is possible and i have no idea. i do like the idea of putting sand on the floor to see movement. It would really give me alot more motivation to find the little guy if i saw his slithers all over the place. Today took me a good 6 hours of non stop searching and i need to know hes still alive and i havn't been wasting my time and anergy looking around. Why do you say that he would be moving around at night time? Is this the time theyget around? it must be freezing cold at night for him. im hopeing that he woulodnt die from being to cold. OK people im off to help the old lady with some house duties. Im still open for any more funky ideas to find him. Meybe i should let some mice go in the house. Im sure mum would love that. LOL

How old is he? I know fairly new baby spotteds could fit into holes as big as a straw. Don't give up. I know your heartbreak and frustration - been there, done that - so I know. My $400 stimson was missing for about 3 days. Even check the drains, she could have fell down the sink or drain holes? Behind your Mum's washing machine, someone recently posted here about their python that was missing for several months and eventually turned up in the water hoses of the neighbours washing machine.

Mum might not appreciate the sand all over the floor but I'm sure she wouldn't mind if you set up a warm spot in corner out of the way - a heatmat with a hidebox sitting over it. One day you might just find her there. But, what is the bet she will turn up when you aren't looking for her.

I lost my stimson once, he was found curled around the rail of the sliding door, so be careful when sliding any doors, because they will chop it in half if it is in there. It also lay a crap in my bed the night it escaped(i was at a party), lol that was when i noticed it was gone goodluck finding ur snake though, i nearly died when i found mine to be lost (i was about 8 )

You could try setting up a little area for him in your room (I'd suggest under your bed or some other dark place) where you have his hide and a defrosted mouse for him. He might smell the mouse, eat it, then curl up in the hide for the rest of the night, then in the morning he might still be there).
Good luck!

Lightbulb Tricks of the Trade

Hey Bud,

Everyone is telling you where to look but no one is telling how to find him. My brothers Spotted Python Escaped whilst my brother was away at Schoolies. I felt soooo guilty because i was responsible for the python whilst he was away.

This is what i did you find my escaped python:

- Firstly i brought a mouse (live) and i left it in a small enclosure in the room the python escaped from. The reason for the mouse being alive is it gives off a stronger scent, and as pythons use vibrations to sense their pray, as the mouse was moving it attracted the python to it.

- Secondly, i found that my pythons a most active at night, i would get up at all hours of the night to see if the python was in sight looking for food and shelter, so leave the room dark.

- Thirdly, persistence, i found my python on the third night (which by then i had already given up hope, NEVER give up hope). It was about 3am and i got up hoping to find him and he was in the kitchen near the mouse i had left for him. Which was rather close to where he's enclosure was.

Granted, my python was about 2.5years old so i was alot easier to spot him then your little guy. But give my trick a go, it couldn't hurt. And don't give up.

Hey they are some great ideas you have there. Tomorrow im gonna go out and buy a heat mat so i can put the hide ive got in his enclosure on it. Im also gonna get a little pinky mouse. I have 1 question, Any idea what kind of cage i should put the mouse in? Should it be one that the snake can still pick up its smell. should i make it out of wire mesh or what can i use to hold the mouse? I have no idea how to keep mice. I might even let my snake kill and eat the mouse as a coming home present. hehe

hay bud id put the pinkie in a cage that can be entered by the snake but nothing else for example cats and as others have said it will be active at night maybe a heat mat in a hide near the mouse so after its eaten it can hide just another idea i had maybee give it a large meal of two or three so it doesnt want to go to far on a full gut good luc with it
