Was going to try and keep Lucy as a permanent guest, using her dystocia as an excuse for her unfit for release, but she came forward in leaps and bounds. She no longer wanted to be cooped up in a tub so I decided it is time to let her go. I didn't upset by picking her up or anything....just opened the lid and let her wander out at her own will.
Lucy was a carpet python I removed from a car in a repair shop. Noting a series of lumps in her belly I took her home to try and help her. Took her to the vet which was waste of time, they didn't know so I took her home and spent 30 minutes massaging her belly & eventually pushed out 8 decaying eggs. We fought off infection which she has now been clear of for over 8 weeks and she's eating well. Now looking better than ever I say she was letting me know it was time to go.

Excellent job. Well done. Didn't the vet want to xray her or something to check?

But then he tried to tell me the lumps were nothing to worry about.

Awesome job!!! Thank goodness she ended up with you. She really is a beautiful snake, nowonder you wanted to keep her. It would have been hard letting her go after you saved her life. You've done a wonderful job.
Just a question - Is there a chance of this happening to her again? Would be a shame if she suffered from this again next year. I'm not having a dig at all, an honest question, I've never had to deal with anything like that.

Lucy was very lucky to have you as her 'foster mum'. Good to see she came good and was able to be released.

Big thumbs up to you! I thought this was a sad thread when I read the title but it is such a buzz to watch an animal who would have otherwise died return to their home. She is beautiful and you have done a fantastic thing! Thanks for sharing with us.

Fantastic, another story with a happy ending! Good on you for all you do for hurt, injured or sick reptiles. There should be more people like you around!

I'm not having a dig at all, an honest question, I've never had to deal with anything like that. | It is possible snakelvr and I really didn't want to let her go. But there is also the good chance that it won't happen. Unfortunately I cannot afford that nice aviary for her that I had planned and I hated seeing her stuck in that tub for any longer. She needed to be out now. For months she had been comfortably curled up in her box now she's been at the lid wanting out. I just have to hope someone is watching over her and keep her safe & healthy
And thank you to you all for your great support I have posted these photos before, but incase you missed, this is her during "rehab"
