wont the snake know the feed is to large and A) not try to swallow, or B) regurge? I thought that was the case, never heard of a snake tearing their stomache.

i just decided to do the same my coastal beging the same age/size as yours maximus, i just got back from the pet shop where i got adult mice for the first time and read this thread
hot not boling water works well every time for me dip em in for a few min till flopy
then i always feed in separate feeding area after light shake to get xsess water off
i have never had a prob with defrosting and my carpet has never turned down a meal
its a simple recipie to follow put mouse in hot tap water(not boiling) till soft shake and feed if mouse pops water is to hot try again..........
cant wait till i get home today and feed choppa his first full grown mouse!!!!!!
if there not interested in there meal make sure its still warm and move it around |

I haven't had a problem with rodents popping after being in hot water and i think i know why, i deforst large numbers in a big tub so when they all go in it would drop the water temp alot, i only use hot water not boiling that would definantly make them pop as well as stink.
LMAO basketcase thats a good one, it's definatly rare coz it hasn't happened. there must be alot of dead snakes in the wild.
All i can say is show me the proof.
If a prey item is to big the snake will not get it down and spit it out, regurgitation occurs when the snake is to cold and can't diegest the prey, this causes it to start rotting inside the snake.

I use the hottest water out of the tap, and plop everything into there...pinkies take 15 seconds, rats take 5 minutes...fully thawed.

the only case of this i've seen was when a python ate a possum at night and was too big to move. The sun came up and overheated and killed the snake.
