Hi guys, was just browsing through the forums but cannot find a topic that really answers my question.
What is the best way to feed a python? ie, methods of getting it to eat. Reasons why it wont eat? etc

I used to feed my python live mice (get ready for the onslaught!) but now I feed it frozen mice. I put them in a zip-lock bag out of the sun, so they can defrost at room temp. And when it is not cold any more, I just chuck it in and the snake finds it and eats it. If it doesn't within 30 mins or so, I chuck it out and try again in a few days.
But my snake is very used to this way of feeding (although she will only eat white mice!!) and there are different techniques for more difficult snakes

How long have you had him/her emma? I got a new python last year that didn't eat for 2 months. They stress heaps when they move to a new place. What have you got and how old?

Yea, I would leave it alone for a few days, just to get used to it's surroundings, then try again.

Mate; if you search the past forium topics, you'll find some good advice, on feeding juvenile snakes....
As has been said, leave it be till it gets used to it's surroundings.....make sure your got a small hide-box for it to feel secure; keep it warm and away from alot of excessive traffic and noise that otherwise may disturb it.
When your sure this is achieved....just on dark; try gently opening the container?, without bumping it to much, slowly and gently move your forceps towards the hide box and gently wriggle the pinky at the enterance, with a tap on the doorway etc....if this fails try again in a few days....try a freshly killed pinky, a defrosted pinky etc. If your still having problems; ask the person you purchased the animal from, how they have been getting the other juv's feeding....It'll feed when it's hungry enough...good luck.. all part of the joys of keeping snakes, so they tell me....by the way; like your avatar; funny book....
