The mice obviously need to be defrosted. I dont think mICE blocks are all that natural. Their are a few different ways you can do it. Placing it in a bag and then into hot water is probably the quickest were as on a heat matt is also effective but can take several hours.

fill your sink with hot water, put the mouse in a plastic bag push the air out of the bag and seal it. put the bag in the water and weigh it down with something leave 10-15 minutes until mouse is warm...dry it before offering to your snake even if you think it is dry still rub it with some hand towel paper.

I put mine into a bowl of boiled water and leave them for a few minutes.
don't usually worry about drying them any more than a bit of a pat with paper towel, as the snakes seem to like it that way.

I don't usually dry them. Although, It does tend to wet the newspaper which can cause really high humidity which isn't too bad for a short time. But I have also found it put off a bit of a smell until the paper is dried. I still don't dry them though.

Be careful with the boiling water because you can cook the mouse and it changes the protein structures meaning the snake can't digest it. LOL corpsicle

I just drop the rat into a small dish of hot water from the tap, I don't use boiled water.
Once it's done I normally give it a quick dab with some paper towel, not totally dry, but not dripping wet either

I pull the rat out of the freezer several hours before feed time, then place it under a lamp minutes before feeding just to warm in a tiny bit hotter than room temp.
I used to use the boiling water method but this can make the skin on the prey item weaker resulting in splitting when they are squeezed by the snake. snake squeezing too hard!!! |

into a cup of hot water (not boiling) from the tap for ten minutes - then give its guts and brain and good rub and a feel to make sure nothings still frozen or cold and then drop straight into the feeding box (dripping wet and all) i find its a good way to keep their fluids up as well...
