If your snake is coming out expecting food you may want to try and handle it a bit once it settles in without offering any food...you don't want him associating you opening the door with food time...programs your snake to go into bite mode every time the door is opened...

i dont have one on hand as im not on my own pc right now... but perhaps someone could post a pics for pink angel of the size of feed in relation to the snake? any one got feeding pics handy?
pink angel: from ur pic that snake looks rather small for a 3 YO... but it is a little hard to tell... i would definately go larger than mice, probably a small or medium rat would suit fine, perhaps try a weaner or a small rat first and see how it goes....
our 3 YO brisbane python eats medium rats, easy, and even looks for a second, so we bumped him up to a large rat, and a month between feeds, he seems quite happy with that. But i assume he is quite a bit larger than yours by the pic...

Thank you for all your suggestions and advice. I will have to look at getting a cover for the lights. I will also try a small rat next week and see how we go.
I also like the suggestion of not moving the food when feeding. Everytime, it hears us at the cage, it comes out to look at what we are doing, so it is a very curious snake or very hungry, I have not been able to determine yet.

It is hard getting a good photo of the snake yet, as all it wants to do is stay in the hiding box and stick its neck out at the moment.
I was told it was not handled a lot by the last owner, so I will have to be careful when I eventually get it out. Sex is still not determined, so that will be another job on the list.
