feeding question

Loki my Bredli is about 14 months old now and eating small rats (they weigh about 65g)

hes about 130 cms long and was eating weekly for a while, now i've cut him back to 10 days, should i reduce him to fortnightly feeds yet or wait a while?

i have obese beardys, i dont wanna have to put the poor snake on a diet too,..!!

how does the snake look? is its body all in proportion. if it looks healthy and lean dont cut back the feeding. i stil feed my 2 year old coastal every sunday and shes in great shape.

i think hes still in proportion, i'll get him of for a foto session tonight and post pics tommorow,...

his muscle lines arent as defined as they used to be which is why i cut him back to 10 days,...

I had a beardy (vitticepts) years ago that died suddenly, the first sign of illness being an almost black beard. At the autopsy the vet said its liver was shot from eating too much fatty food, causing system failure. Since then I've been very careful not to risk over-feeding any of my animals.

the beardies got fat mostly from veges, they only got roaches once a week (but theyre not getting any for a while)
i know theres a danger of them getting fatty livers if i put them on too big a diet and theyre forced to mobilise alot of their stored fat @ once, which is why i'm still feeding them a few leaves of their greens a day and trying to get them to exercise so they only use a handleable amount of body fat. its gonna take ages, but i'm not gonna risk doing it too quickly.

sorry to hear you lost your beardy, i'd die if i lost mine.

Leave him go for a while longer mate, he's still young and still growing. If you think he's still in proportion then all will be fine.
