Feeding Question

How do you judge how much to feed you snake?

when I got Scarlet MD she was on 1 Weaner mouse every 7 - 10 days.

she's just over 12 months old and I'm feeding her 2 hopper mice every 10 days.
she's about 900mm at her last shed (1 month ago)

At what stage should I go up in mousicle size?
is there a rough guide to mouse size vs snake size?

dont feed her for 14 days, then try her on a fuzzy/hopper rat! these are roughly the size of an adult mouse, yet have far more bone structure in them, which is better for the snake!!! youd be surprised how much your snakes head can stretch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ...you dont need to feed it so often once its on larger prey, at her age id have her feeding every 2-3 weeks on larger prey.

but maybe thats just me?

About 5% of their body weight or so the food item leaves a noticeably but not over the top lump in them. It's not rocket science.......some feeds can be larger, some can be smaller. Provided your snake is not emaciated/skinny or overweight then keep with what your doing.

I was under the impression that an adult mouse would have more bone structure then that of a rat of the same size as the mice are fully developed.
Where are you getting your info from? I'm happy to be prooved wrong.

skull structure, thats all, have a feel of an adult mouse head, for mass, and as gross as it sounds, give it a squeese to feel density, then do the same on a larger fuzzy rat.... the rats skull is denser and chunkier...... just my experiences with them, thats all
