Have you tried warming the food slightly?
Also, it sounds basic, but have you tried leaving it in his viv overnight(away from heat source)?
Then theres the bloody nose technique, cut the nose of the rodent.
Also, if you have live rodents in a cage, then try getting a thawed and placing it in the live rodents cage(without them in in) and roll it around a bit, then dust off and try to feed, sometimes it gives a stronger smell, and some snakes go for that.
let me know if you have tried these, if not give them a go.

I give my new snakes at least a week to settle in before trying to feed them.

Seriously though, give us some more details, like, how long since last feed?, how large is the snake?, How large are the food items you are attempting to feed etc..... |

he is 1.2mts long,i have tried to feed him mice and rats(thawed only).the person i got him off only had him for about 4 weeks and wanted to get rid of him due to handling problems. i have been able to handle him now, he has had a reasonable amount of time in his hide box and is now tamed up quite well. but still wont feed.
he is quite skinny how long can they go with out a feed ? he is still very active. |

| | Regular Member | | | | | try to get a live rat and kill it before you feed it to him/her as alot of herps like a fresh kill rather than a heated up rat. dont try to feed it every 2nd day if it does not feed wait a week and then try again, also you could assist it by putting rat in its mouth. reptiles are opotunistic feeders so they can eat heaps one day then not feed again for 2months, and at that size it should feed for you eventually, also it is the time of the year that reptiles are being cooled for winter so it may not be taking food because of that if your temps are too low.
hope this helps. Rick

i am starting the cooling down period for my other snakes, but thought it would be better to keep this one at normal temperature untill he has feed (he is the thinest i have seen)do you thinkabout doing this ?
, i will feeding him freshly a killed rat. i just dont like having to kill them myself. | | |
