A workmate of mine suggested that we try and give our bredli an egg or two from the supermarket for a meal, and a change from the regular rats.
Is this possible? Even though snakes to eat eggs in the wild, it sounds a bit dodgy to me!!!

Some exotic snakes feed only on eggs and crush them in their stomach then spit the shell out and absorb the protein from the yolk. I doubt an egg would be overly good for them though providing they didn't spit the shell it would be a good protein and calcium hit for runt snakes I would think. Personally I wouldn't do it, if your snake is feeding fine and healthy there is probably no reason to change its diet.

Do a search as theres some old threads on this. I think in the end if fed eggs alone their poo was runny and very smelly. I was going to try a rat and then a egg or visa versa in the same meal which I feel would stop the smell and runny somewhat. havent tried it yet though.

A bredli wouldn't eat an egg. I wouldn't smell like food.
Also, it wouldn't be able to crush or crack the shell. Egg eating snakes overseas have backward pointing vertebrate along their neck which they use to crack the shell. After that happens, the contents of the egg will be emptied into the stomach, and the rest of the shell crushed and regurgitated. A bredli is unequipped to do this.

~ notechistiger. | A bredli can and would eat an egg, they are quite capable of digesting the shell
However, it stinks when it comes out the other end.

If you had your own laying hens, they would probably take a freshly laid egg without too much hesitation, however some of the eggs sold in supermarkets these days even make me baulk.....
