Only when you were baby siting him in a different tank with a unsealed top 
And yes beware they can climb fish tank corners so you need a sealed top for your tank too if your think of keeping one, I forgot about the punch from your wife when i assured her there was no way the could get out and she found him in another room under a bean bags
