first quail chick

hey my port mac smashed his first one day old quail the other night, he's been pretty hungry recently, but i thought he might be a bit fussy the first time he was offered a bird... not so.

When you feed a bird, is it hard to get them back onto rats? Or will they eat both equally well?

it's good to vary your snakes diet, constant hairy food isn't flash for a snakes intestines. i think that chick would have a lower fat content then a mouse that size, and different viamin content. i know when my mate feeds his large coastal a rooster, it craps out a few feathers. i would imagin it would be like a little roughage.
thanks for the positive responce.

feeding

oh yeah... he is about 6 months old approx 50cm long and i haven't tried him back on fuzzies yet, but i think he will be ok. i have had heaps of success scenting rodents with a skink (after washing and freezing it to kill germs) with difficult feeders. this has only ever taken one scenting for regular feeding results.i've only used this method in desperation tho.
