I have been keeping dragons and turtles for a few years now and have finally talked my partner into letting me get my first snake . What is a good first snake ? and what age is best ? I really like jungle pythons but don't no if this is a wise choice for my first snake any advise would be appreciated.

i'd say a childreni,stimmie or maccie only small types so they don;'t require a large enclosure.but alot of ppl sat diamonds,coastals and bredlis make a good starter.a jungle is alright if u don't mind getting bitten have have talked to ppl that don't have snapy jungles tho

I started with a pair of NT Black Headed Pythons. I always recommend people start with BHP or Bredli's because in my opinion they are the best natured. Jungles are awesome but mine love trying to eat me. It's all about your preference and your budget.

an elapid as a first snake? not the best idea, got for a muray darling, bredli or coastal

GO the snakes, now would be a good time to let your partner know this is an addictive hobby, so she can get use to the idea of having more than 1 snake around.
Type of first snake really depends on the size of snake you want... If you want small go with 1 of the childrens variety, if you want large go coastal,bredli,diamond etc... jungles are known to be snappy but you might get lucky

your in brisbane, diamond isnt the best choice, they reallyneed to be kept cool so they need someone with experience in our sub-tropical climate
