first weekend in OCT

while all you sydneysiders are out at taronga zoo, sampling the delights of the slatemieters firewater(tm) and watching Bry attempt to use his colored balls as earrings spare a thought for me.
I'll be camped in a conservation park participation in a fauna serve y for the SA museum. I'll be trapping, photographing and otherwise molesting our wildlife legally .

BUWHAHAHAHA.

The Mammal Club are organizing a biological survey of
Warrenben Conservation Park on the lower Yorke Peninsula during the Labor Day Weekend Friday 1st Oct to Monday 4th October 2004
As on past surveys, SAHG members and others are welcomre to participate.
(PM FUSCUS FOR CONTACT DETAILS)

Mammal, Frog and Reptile, bird and plant surveys are usually carried out at all sites

Where ther terrain is suitable, standard trapfall lines with 6 pitfalls along a 50-meter drift fence will be set up, together with 15 sherman or Elliott traps around each line. Wire cage traps are set for larger animals.

Invertebrates, particulary ants and spiders will be collected from the pitfalls and by opportunistic collecting for the SA Museam.

BYO camping near the survey sites is being arranged.

Bring cameras (OK). 2WD access is expected

No experience required.

Be careful if you're in SA anytime soon, Sherman!

There guys, Slateman gives you his blessing for a weekend of "togetherness". Seriously though, sounds like a really interesting project to be involved in and I guess we don't need to state the obvious but hope you have a great time.

Regards Rina

Join a conservation group or club. I've seen Uni students at lamington doing the same thing
The SA herp group is amazing though, because it is so closely tied to the SA uni and museum there is a constant stream of things like this. There is a Pigmy blue tongue survey shortly

at Lamington taking to the Uni Students
ME : Never seen a Funnel web burrow, what does one look like?
THEM : theres one there, and there and there and there and there and there and there and there and there ..........

They also pointed me to this huge coastal hunting paddymelons
