I agree, also look at the portable fly baited traps. They are only $20-30, they trap and kill flies and can be used for long periods only requiring you to change the bait as required. This is a non-chemical spraying way of getting rid of the flies. I wouldn't want to be exposing my snakes to the nerve agents that are present in all insecticides. TOD migtht be good and the herp can process the toxins over a period of time with some exposure, but remember, the chemicals can have a cumulative effect and may potentially harm your snake in the long run.

Otherwise, if ya want to be a real hippy I'd be planting a combination of Lavander and Basil around the house and burning citronella and sandalwood. They are naturally occuring fly repellants.
