Food Size

Hey Guys !!

Trouser my Coastal has just had a shed, like 10 mins ago.... It was mad to watch (new pic below)

Just thought I would ask.... When do you think it would be a good time to move in bigger size of food ??

I am currently feeding 2 hopper mice a week.... Not refusing to eat at all

RE: Food Size

I feed weaner rats to my 1 year old Blond macs and they are just over 60cm long. If your Carpet is at least 60cm it should be able to eat a weaner rat easily.

RE: Food Size

Hard to make out size from that pic, but from the looks of it, it has recently eaten? yes? and it looks like it could easily double that meal, so id go weaner rats, or even a small rat..

My Yearling Murray (the garbage disposal) Eats small adult rats and it only takes him about 15 mins to get them down

RE: Food Size

Well..... I had a spare adult male mouse and thought might try him on that before I go out and get some rats....

He ate it... I went to bed..... come check this morning..... mouse regurgitated

Oh well..... I think I might feed him hopper mice for a while still like 2 a week.....

What do you guys think ?

RE: Food Size

Was it thourally defrosted, heated right through? if it wasnt quite warm enough that might have done it? id go with rat pups, best on rats early as possible, two rats pups a week and then go weaners when hes used to rats. jmho
mine never regurged but it took a self imposed fast before she accepted rats, diff smell.

RE: Food Size

I would still try rat pups mate, the mouse might've been bad. Plus the pups would be smaller than the adult mouse.
