i can only speak fro my own, but hes the most lovely patient wonderful snake, he was a bit nippy when i got him at 2 months old but grew out of that pretty quickly, he doesnt even flinch when i stick my head in his cage and kiss him on the nose even if hes been sleeping.
i read somewhere that they can get to 10 foot long, but 7-8 foot seems more common.

fair enough, if he dosent want one he goes and sits on the towel cupboard and doesnt have to.

most of the time he sits on the towel rail while i'm having a shower and reaches towards the water, and when i've finished he has a little cruise around the tub. (bath/shower thing if that sounds confusing)

My 13yo daughter got her olive hatchy in March this year. She saved up for the snake ($360) and my wife and I bought the enclosure and accessories. She saved and waited patiently for 3 years before we got one.

She has just had her first shed since we've had her and she has emerged the most beautiful snake. The colors her scales reflect when in light are just spectacular.

Olives are generally not considered a good first snake which I think is only because of the size that they grow.

I would not have bought an adult, but a hatchy has worked out beautifully. We will gain experience as she grows and as an adult she should be well used to us.

I say go for it.

If my 13yo daughter can one, you can.
