Hey everyone I am so happy.........found my male macci yesterday that escaped over 6 months ago. He was in next doors shed in the small bathroom that is in there. Neighbour called me yesterday afternoon telling me he had a problem - a snake in the bathroom. I went over not even thinking about the macci and wondering what on earth I would find. But it was our guy who had vanished. He is in perfect health and has grown heaps.

I have a hypothetical question, if a herp escapes for a lengthy period of time and it is over the time the owner has to send their book into the parks and wildlife reporting the missing herp and then some time later the missing herp is found, how do you go about informing the wildlife guys. do you need to contact them and inform them you have found your lost herp so put this extra herp back on my registered list or what. If they have been on the run for 6 months are they considered wild? lol
Just curious,
Davo

For Davo: I had entered him in my log book as him having had escaped. I now have a new set of books and have just made a note in them that I have found him.
I did this a few years ago when i found a childrens that had been missing for 13 months, she turned up in perfect condition. She had survived 2 winters in Sydney..found her in the garage in with some mice. She had just eaten an adult mouse and couldn't get out of their cage...lol

I imagine as long as you put a note in the "remarks" column when you retrieve the snake, everything would be fine. If they ever did an inspection and checked the numbers, it would be there in black & white.
