i can see a lot of photos of feeding that aren't in enclosures.

is that for photo purposes or do you guys put your snakes in something else to feed them?
like a tub or something?

i heard that if you feed a snake in a tub he will always think of feeding in the tub and wil be less likely to bite when in the enclosure.
any validity to these theories?

I can't speak for anyone else but i feed in the enclosure (except in the case of more that one snake being kept in the same enclosure).

Personally i haven't had any problems with snakes being more aggressive if they are fed in their enclosure though i do tend to hook my snakes out of their enclosures and then handle them.

The snakes in my photos were eating outside the enclosure purely for photographic purposes.

Cheers,
Ish

lycanthropica,
there are various reasons why one might not feed in the animal's enclosure. if several animals share one enclosure there is the danger of more than one animal trying to share the one feed item, or accidentally biting each other due to them smelling like their food.

i only keep one animal per enclosure so my justification is as you stated previously, if the animal is never fed in its enclosure it reduces the likelyhood of them mistaking you as a food item. there is no hard and fast rule of course, some keepers feed exclusively in the animal's enclosure and never experience any problems, but i feel that the age old saying 'on ounce of prevention is worth a tonne of cure' is particularly applicable here.

sometimes better to err of the side of caution when we're dealing with costly animals that can inflict not-so-minimal damage when thye want to...

Hope that helps!

also to add my personal experience to this, one of my Macs is the most placid critter ever, i never worry about him biting. however, the moment he goes into his 70L tub to be fed he becomes very aggressive and strikes at anything that moves until hes been fed. goes to show, he knows where he gets fed! lol
