Hey my diamond has been a little bit cranky the last few weeks, and is hiding in his hide rock most of the time. I noticed that his skin looks really flabby (like it's too big for him) and he is looking realy dull.
Is it likely that he is gonna shed? He only shed just over a month ago. Although he has been eating more.

he's gonna shed from the sounds of things. Cranky cause he can't see properly and I dare say he;d be feeling pretty uncomfortble too

Thanks, yeah the poor thing. He still wouldn't strike. I'm just leaving him alone, but he looks terrible, all dull and saggy. It just seems to be taking longer with his sheds. I used to notice that he was dull and he would've shed about 2 days later. It has been almost 2 weeks since I noticed that he was dull.

get a spray bottle and mist the enclosure with luke warm water. He may be too dry and having probs with the shed. Don't drench the enclosure / snake but give it good spraying

At the moment the humidity is on 45. Would it help to add another water bowl, under his light to raise the humidity?

If the humidity is 45% I wouldn't worry about it. Another water bowl may make it too humid in there. Give him a few more days and hee how things go.

Sometimes it's better to lower the heating when a snake is about to shed, rather than increase humidity, especially for a diamond.

I'd imagine it wouldnt help by putting it high then setting it low |

At the moment my heat is on a timer. It turns off at night for 8 hours. It gets down to about 15 degrees. Is that too low? I have heard that it's good to have it cool at night for diamonds.

I only heat my diamonds during the day, however they are a fair bit older and bigger than yours. By that rate of shedding i would assume that your DP is about a year, and you are feeding about every week.
You can cool them at night, however, i had a night heat and a day heat, where at night the enclosure would still have that cold end, but there was still a warm area if the needed it.
That was only for the first year.
I wouldnt be too worried about it, they are a cold weather python.
The temp thing that i think serpent was refering too was the fact that if you set the temperature too high, you will find that this will dry the skin of the subcantanious protein that they produce in order to aid shedding, If this drys it makes it hard to shed.
If they want more moisture, they will get in there water bowl.
Cheers
D

I heat my diamond during the night too, but its only 10 months. When its a little bigger I'll cut the heat out and I'll be cutting the night time heat once its a little warmer

yeah he is just over a year. He is fed every 2-3 weeks (either 2 mice or 1mouse & 1 rat). But he has been growing fast the last 2 months because he didn't eat for 3 months over winter. I think he is making up for lost time.
By the way Dustin, the light cage fits perfect and looks good! Thankyou

Jake still hasn't shed, it's been about 3 weeks now. Should i feed him anyway? He hasn't had a feed for about 3 weeks. I usually feed him at about 3 weeks.

I fed one of our diamonds during shedding and she was okay with it.
