Good Signs on GTP pricing and Availability

Hello All,

With recent Ads on gtp's (for sale)with their pricing and availability, it's looking promising for people who would like to get their hands on some.

The slight downturn on the economy plays a big role or is it becoming more common?
A couple of people that i know personally (who breeds gtp's)has mentioned that they finding the demand for them drop from last seasons stock.

What are your thoughts

Leigh

I think that most people who were willing to pay $5000 for a a baby Chondro have them already.
There's now a lot of people keen for some, but wont pay $5000 for them.
When they drop down a couple of grand for established babys, you'll find they'll sell like hot cakes again.

You would think that in a decade the price would be down to around $2000 each, however if costs keep rising on grain you will be paying $100 per mouse to feed them.....

The price will drop, though very slowly, there would be a percentage of people with that sort of money opting to buy albino Darwins instead, they would of put some pressure on the GTP market of late, but due to their enigma, I wouldn't expect the GTP market to crash at all, just slowly drop over many years.

I think the albino carpet fad is putting serious pressure on GTP prices. I still can't see why the RSP price dropped so dramatically. They are the most beautiful snakes imaginable... Oh well, it's all a case of supply and demand...

Vincent, don't hold you breath. People who paid 5,000.-, 8,000.- or more dollars for their hatchings now or in the past two years will (hopefully) breed them soon. Do you think they will sell their juveniles for $2,000,- or less?

hi there members. well personally i have a different view.

i feel that there are so many non native greens available that there will be some spectacular colour morphs available at somewhat similar pricing,or more depending on the seller's , but i do not think they will drop under 4k for atleast the next decade.

and with the native greens, well i think that these will always be around 50% more expensive and will never be less than 6k each over the same period.

with the albino's on the market i personally think that not all keepers are wanting to purchase them either carpets or olives.
i think different "strokes for different folks" is the correct saying that applies.
there is obviously exceptions to the rule but the majority will have differing likes and dislikes

for me personally, bring on albino woma's or b.h.'s and i reckon i'd shell out for some, but i'm not to keen to buy carpet's or olives, but certainly greens and roughies.

what do you guy's think?

Over rated? I haven't met anyone yet who would say "I wouldn't want one".

As for the designer GTPs - it will take a long time before anyone starts producing spectacular and consistent morphs and be wiling to sell them. My guess is at least a decade.

You get any book of snakes and show begginers or non snake keepers the pics and ask which one they like, 9/10 will pick a condro, I doubt any would pick a roughy, they are a specialist python, for those who like them for what they are.

Hey Cockney, do you own one?? I don't know anyone who actually owns one, that would share your feelings on that comment!

And as for Roughies, they too have an appeal of their own!

I didnt mean sell them for $2000 or less. I meant when they start selling established babys for around the $3000 mark, heaps more people will get into them.
If you only want to make some money, albino carpets would be better. Most blokes i know that breed Chondros only get small clutchs out. Even if Albino carpets drop a bit in value, they still pump out heaps of eggs to make it worthwhile. And they look better than Chondros, imo.
Having said all that, i still think plain green Chondros will still be $1000+ for at least the next 7 years. Maybe more.
